Calls for Panelists

FY 2017–2018 Call for Panelists from across the Bay Area
The San Francisco Arts Commission is looking for panelists to serve on our grant panels, which are tentatively scheduled for January to March 2018.

Our peer review panel process was designed to ensure transparency of our grantmaking and to reflect our agency values of cultural equity—empowering communities historically underserved in the arts and in San Francisco. Panelists will review grant applications, meet in a publicly-accessible setting to discuss, score, and, ultimately, make funding recommendations to the commission.

Who are we looking for?

The Arts Commission seeks panelists based in San Francisco, the East Bay, and beyond who are deeply knowledgeable about the arts, arts education, cultural equity, promising practices of nonprofits, knowledge about cultural facility and capital needs, and issues in historically underserved communities. We look for panelists who are artists, engaged in the arts as a profession, or strongly rooted in fields related to cultural equity. Younger professionals with relevant experiences are encouraged to submit their names.

Have you been a panelist before and want to serve again? Former panelists who have not served in two or more years should consider reapplying.

Staff does due diligence to ensure that the make-up of our panels is equitably representative of both San Francisco’s demographics, and the specific applicant pool at hand in terms of racial/ethnic representation, gender representation, LGBTQ representation, special needs representation, as well as equitable representation of artistic disciplines and organizational expertise.

How to respond?

If you are interested in sitting on a grant review panel, please complete this online application. Be sure to include a working email and phone number so staff can be in contact.

Upon receiving your relevant information, you will be added to our pool of potential panelists for FY2017–2018. Staff will evaluate how and when your potential contribution may be useful in the panel review process and will contact you with further information.

Thank you for your interest in becoming a panelist. We appreciate your commitment to the arts and cultural equity!
